The Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce (ILBCC)

is a dynamic organization dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and prosperous Illinois. We passionately advocate for Black-owned businesses, women entrepreneurs, and minority enterprises, leveraging over 29 years of experience to promote economic equality and drive growth. Through essential resources and networking opportunities, we empower our members to thrive and create lasting impact across the state.

Our mission is to foster economic growth and reduce disparities by enhancing the competitive capacity of small businesses. We partner with government agencies and the private sector to create sustainable opportunities for African Americans, women, and minority-owned enterprises. With a commitment to advocating for over 100,000 Black-owned businesses across diverse industries, we strive to ensure their success and promote economic equality.

Dr. Larry D. Ivory

Our Leadership Team

Dr. Larry D. Ivory is a visionary leader and tireless advocate for African American businesses in Illinois and across the nation. As the founder, President, and CEO of the Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce (ILBCC), he has transformed the organization into the largest and most active voice for African American businesses in the state since its incorporation in 1997.  Under his guidance, the ILBCC has become a leading advocate and go-to resource for state and local entities, as well as corporations, in promoting job creation and growth among African American businesses.

Dr. Ivory's influence extends far beyond Illinois. As a founding member and past Chairman of the Board of the National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), he has played a pivotal role in representing over 2 million Black-owned businesses in the United States and fostering international connections through affiliate chapters in countries across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. His expertise and leadership have been sought after nationwide, with requests from Hawaii to New Jersey for assistance in establishing Black Chambers and speaking engagements.

Throughout his career, Dr. Larry D. Ivory has held numerous prestigious positions that showcase his commitment to economic empowerment and inclusive business practices. From serving on the Procurement Policy Board and the Com Ed Advisory Board to founding the Illinois Black Political Action Committee, Dr. Ivory has consistently worked to create opportunities and drive positive change. His appointments to various councils and committees, including the Business Enterprise Council and the Elgin-O'Hare Bypass Advisory Council, further demonstrate his dedication to improving minority contracting opportunities and fostering economic development in Illinois.
