SIFA Children’s
Choir from Uganda
coming to
the 2008 ILBCC 3rd
Annual Convention!
Who:
The SIFA Children’s
Choir (SIFA is
Swahili for Praise)
consists of 20 boys
and girls, ranging
in age from 6-18,
who have been
orphaned because of
parents with AIDS
and other disasters
in their homeland.
What:
Volunteers from
across the United
States are
arranging:
• concert bookings
(full concert is 90
minutes, and shorter
concerts are booked
as needed)
•
recreational/cultural
events (particularly
with local children)
• meals
• local and national
media opportunities
• accommodations
(host families,
dormitory style,
etc.)
Our goal is to
maximize the amount
of public exposure
for the Choir, and
also to maximize the
total donations they
will be able to take
back to Africa.
When:
Tuesday, August 19
through Wednesday,
August 27, 2008
Where:
The children are on
a U.S. tour from
April through
September 2008:
Pennsylvania,
Virginia,
Connecticut, New
York, North
Carolina, Georgia,
Alabama, Tennessee,
Arkansas, Texas,
Oklahoma, Colorado,
Nebraska, Iowa,
Ohio, Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Illinois,
and Michigan. The
tour group has its
own bus
transportation.
Why:
The children came to
the United States to
spread international
understanding of
their circumstances
and are sharing the
joy and hope they
have for a better
future through their
unique songs and
dance. They are
raising funds for an
orphanage in Uganda
and so others in the
same situation will
have a better life
and living
environment.
How:
The trip is being
sponsored by
Together We Can
Change The World (TWCCTW),
as well as Macy’s
and My Power Mall.
